AI voice typing just got a serious Android upgrade.
Wispr Flow has officially launched its Android app, expanding beyond Mac, Windows, and iOS. The move brings its AI-powered dictation tool to one of the largest mobile markets in the world.
Unlike iOS, where Wispr Flow operates through a dedicated keyboard, the Android version introduces a floating bubble interface. Users can:
Hold the bubble to dictate
Tap once to start recording
Press close to stop
The app doesn’t just transcribe speech — it removes filler words and formats text based on context and the app you’re using.
Alongside the Android launch, Wispr Flow announced a full infrastructure rewrite, making dictation 30% faster than before.
The app supports translation in over 100 languages and works across different apps system-wide.
In a notable regional push, the company also introduced a new model optimized for Hinglish — the blend of Hindi and English widely spoken in India. That positions Wispr Flow to better serve one of the fastest-growing mobile-first AI markets.
CEO Tanay Kothari said Android finally gave the company the flexibility to build the voice experience it envisioned — hinting at a broader ambition: replacing typing altogether.
While AI dictation tools are common on desktop and iOS, Android has fewer polished options. Wispr Flow joins competitors like Typeless, which launched its Android app last month.
The bigger story?
Voice is quietly becoming the next AI battleground on mobile.
If AI can clean, format, translate, and contextualize speech seamlessly, typing could start to feel outdated.
And Android — with its global user base — may be where that shift accelerates fastest.
